How many diet or nutrition plans ( fads ) have we seen in the past couple of decades? Grapefruit diet, cabbage soup, Zone, Atkins, South Beach, Paleo and I am sure more will eventually be the next revolution. Where some of these plans fall short are in the how and why department. What I mean is that there is no basis how they come up with the “macro” figures ( buzz word for carbs,proteins and fats ) and why all this food is necessary. The nutritional pros in charge will vaguely say, the carbs are for fuel and the protein is for muscle building. How many counselors or plans really give you a specific formula on how your carb, protein and fat quantities are compiled? Any good solid plan should be based on an individual’s body composition ( lean muscle ) and daily calorie expenditure. These two main points help you monitor and keep you on the good foot in making continued progress. When your body composition changes, your food should be adjusted accordingly. If you seek out or choose a plan that is not specific on these specific details, don’t walk from it, run!!
